Rider handbook
Starting your day
Installing the app, signing in on your own phone, reading the Today screen, and what happens when the signal drops.
The rider app is a website you install on your phone. Open https://qcs.com.pk/r in Chrome, sign in, then use Add to home screen. After that it opens like any other app and works with a weak signal.
Signing in
- 01Use the number or email the office gave youYour login is issued by the office with a temporary password. The first sign-in makes you change it.
- 02Sign in on one phoneYour session is tied to the phone you sign in on. Signing in on a second phone ends the first session, which is how a lost phone is made safe.
- 03Stay signed inThe session lasts for days, not hours, so you are not typing a password at a gate in the rain. Sign out only when you hand the phone in.
The Today screen
Scanning
- Tap the scan button and point the camera at the barcode. Hold the phone steady about a hand’s length away.
- In poor light use the torch button rather than moving the parcel into the sun.
- If the camera will not read a damaged label, type the tracking number by hand. Manual entry is recorded as manual, which is normal and expected.
- Never guess a tracking number. A wrong number moves somebody else’s parcel.
When the signal drops
The app keeps working offline. Scans, photographs, signatures and cash declarations are stored on the phone and sent when the signal returns. The Waiting screen shows exactly what is still queued.
- Pending
- Saved on the phone, waiting for a signal.
- Sending
- On its way to the office right now.
- Rejected
- The office refused it, for example because the parcel moved on before your action arrived. The app retries up to 8 times before it asks you to show it to a supervisor.
Looking after the phone
- Start the day with a full battery and carry a power bank. A dead phone stops the run.
- Keep the camera lens clean. Most scan failures are a smudged lens.
- Use the brightness boost in sunlight. Every screen is built for one-handed use with large targets.
- Report a cracked camera or a failing torch the same day; both slow the whole run down.
Questions riders ask
My phone was stolen.Tell the office immediately. Your session is revoked, and because the session is bound to that phone it cannot be used again. Sign in on a replacement and carry on.
The app says I am on pickup duty but dispatch gave me deliveries.Call the dispatch desk. Duty is set on the roster, and the office can change it; do not try to work a run the app has not given you.
