Getting parcels collected
Forwarding to pickup by hand, setting an auto-pickup time, what the rider does at your counter, and why a parcel can bounce back.
A booked parcel sits in your Booked tab until you forward it for collection. Forwarding is what tells operations the parcel is packed, labelled and physically ready.
Two ways to forward
- 01By handSelect parcels in the Booked tab and forward them. They join a pickup request for your default pickup address, and the request appears at /m/pickups.
- 02By auto-pickup timeSet a daily time in /m/settings. A sweep runs every few minutes and, at your time, forwards everything still sitting in Booked. You never have to remember.
What happens after you forward
- 01The request is queuedYour parcels are grouped into one pickup request with a collection window. The default window is the one on your account; QCS keeps express parcels ahead of standard.
- 02A rider is assignedAuto-assignment picks a pickup rider on duty with capacity and the shortest detour. If nobody fits, the request stays queued and the pickup desk assigns by hand.
- 03You are notifiedA WhatsApp message names the rider and the window. The same detail is on the request page.
- 04The rider scans at your counterEvery parcel is scanned individually. A scanned parcel is collected. An unscanned parcel is not, and nothing is taken on trust.
- 05The request closesCollected in full, partly collected, or nothing collected. Whatever bounced is back in Booked with a reason you can read.
Pickup request states
Why a parcel bounces back
The rider picks a reason from a fixed list, so the bounce is never a shrug. Common reasons are that the parcel was not ready, the label was missing or unreadable, the weight was clearly wrong, or the counter was closed.
- A bounced parcel returns to Booked, keeps its tracking number and is not charged.
- Forward it again once the problem is fixed. It joins the next pickup request.
- The reason stays on the parcel history, so a pattern is visible to both sides.
Being ready for the rider
- Label every parcel before the window opens, not while the rider waits.
- Keep the day’s parcels in one place, sorted so the barcode faces up.
- Print the load sheet and have it with the parcels.
- Keep somebody at the counter who can answer the phone number on your pickup address during 09:00 to 19:00.
- For express, hand over before 13:00. Later than that the same-day promise cannot be kept.
If nobody comes
If the window passes with no rider, the request page shows the current state and the assigned rider. Raise a ticket on the request, or write to cs@qcs.com.pk with the request number. The pickup desk can reassign immediately.
